I’m not a good reader. I mean that literally. When I was in the 5th grade, I remember being put into the “special” group for reading. That meant I wasn’t a strong reader. I have a hard time reading, often time switching words around or seeing words differently than they are written. I suppose I have some level of dyslexia, which would make sense why Harper is also a dyslexic. Because of this, I shy’d away from reading because I was embarrassed. The thought of being asked to read out loud in class made me want to hide under my desk. In my late twenties, I went through a pretty rough patch, my sister was an avid reader and would recommend books to me. I started reading as a way of escaping misery, and I haven’t looked back since. I’m still not a very strong reader, taking much longer to finish a book than most, but I absolutely love reading. I tend to keep my books because it’s work for me to finish them. Being a dog walker gives me a ton of quiet time while walking, so I also listen to a lot of books to pass the time with. I have a friend who can recount every book she’s ever read off the top of her head. It’s not baffling and infuriating as I have a hard time recalling like that. I made this page as a diary to the books I’ve read or listened to along the way. My own little book club, for what it’s worth.
